Depending on how you use the service, we collect:
Do not submit password-reset, checkout, account-specific, medical, financial, or other personalized links, or any address containing another person's sensitive information. The service is designed to check public storefront pages, not private content.
We receive information from you, your browser or device, the public website you ask us to inspect, our service providers, and records we create while operating the service. We use it to authenticate users, fetch public pages, generate and save reports, apply usage limits, fulfill purchases, deliver human reviews when offered, provide secure sharing, respond to requests, prevent abuse, debug failures, protect the service, and understand whether core product flows work.
The checker may request the submitted public page and a limited number of redirects. It does not sign in, add items to a cart, complete a purchase, or intentionally collect payment-card information from the submitted site.
When a threat-intelligence integration is configured, we send the normalized public URL and path being checked to that provider—for example, Google Web Risk—to look for known threat-list matches. We remove the entire query string and fragment before this check. When no threat-intelligence provider is configured, no URL is sent for this provider check and the report marks the check as unavailable.
If AI explanation is enabled, structured risk signals may be sent to OpenAI or another configured language-model provider to draft explanatory wording. We do not intentionally send fetched page HTML, account passwords, authentication tokens, or payment-card details. The deterministic rules, not the language model, set the score and machine-readable verdict.
We disclose information only as reasonably necessary to operate the service, complete a transaction you request, protect users and the service, comply with law, or handle a business transfer. Provider categories include:
During the preceding 12 months, the categories disclosed for these business purposes may have included identifiers and contact data, commercial and fulfillment data, submitted-site and internet-activity data, communications, and security or usage data. We do not publish private reports. An owner may create a random, revocable share link for an unlocked report; anyone with an active link can view the curated shared report.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or process it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. privacy laws. We do not use advertising pixels or track your activity across unaffiliated websites to build an advertising profile. Third parties do not collect personal information through Get Scam Check for their own cross-site advertising purposes based on the application code and providers currently in use.
Because we do not sell or share information for targeted advertising, browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how the service behaves; their requested opt-out is already honored by default. We will update this policy and implement required controls before introducing any materially different advertising practice.
We retain information only for the period reasonably needed for the purposes described above, subject to legal, accounting, fraud, security, dispute, and backup requirements. The criteria differ by category:
A request to delete eligible information may not immediately remove encrypted backup copies; those copies age out through the provider's normal backup cycle and are not restored except for disaster recovery.
Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to us, you may have the right to confirm processing; access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit certain sensitive data uses; and appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable right. We do not currently sell data, use it for targeted advertising, or make qualifying solely automated eligibility decisions.
If you are signed in, visit account and privacy settings to download a JSON copy of account-linked records or schedule and cancel a deletion rights request during the cooling-off period. Scheduling records the request; it does not itself purge data or cancel Paddle billing. After the cooling-off period, a due request enters manual operator review. A closed workflow records the operator's disposition; it does not by itself prove that an account or every related record was deleted. Visit our privacy request page for corrections, records not linked to the signed-in account, authorized-agent requests, appeals, and other request methods. We respond within the period required by applicable law and may retain limited records of the request.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed for the information we process, but no online service is completely secure. If a security incident requires notice, we will notify affected individuals and regulators as required by applicable law.
Get Scam Check is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact privacy@getscamcheck.com so we can investigate and delete it where required.
The service is operated from the United States. Providers may process information in other countries, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
We will post revisions here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice through the service or by email when appropriate and obtain consent when required by law.
